What to do with a new Apron

Updated: Feb 29, 2024

I LOVE aprons.  I mean LOVE THEM!!

I like plain ones.  Funny ones. Fancy ones. Garden ones.

Doesn't matter what kind, I love em.

With ADHD, a passion for cooking, and a penchant for getting dirty no matter what I am doing, aprons are a must and a clothes saver.

I am always in the thick of things.  Doing something to get myself dirty, wiping my hands in between tasks. Dropping, splattering, generally making a mess while cooking.  Dirt in the garden is always an issue.

All of the mess leads to clothes that are ruined and stained.  I dont like stained clothes.

So began my love of aprons.

This year I asked my Mom for new aprons for Christmas.

She gave me 3!!  3!!!

I immediately washed them and started the process of making them softer and more comfy.

But they are not there yet.

So I keep using my old and comfy, disgustingly stained ones.

Because they are what I know……..

How often do we use the same old ______  (insert anything here) because it is what we know, what we are used to.  Even though it is worn out and stained and ratty with ripped ties and pockets with holes.

Stay at a job we dont like.

Maintain a relationship that doesnt serve us.

Not try something new cause it is uncomfortable.

For me, I am busting out…  wearing the new apron.. doing the new things even if they are not comfortable at first.

Scared and excited! I am doing all sorts of new things in my life. A new apron…. Well that's small potatoes but today it felt huge.

What is your apron…..
